The PROSWITCH-8i is 8 input DVI
switcher for DVI and VGA signals.
Although we used DVI connectors for better reliability the PROSWITCH-8
is fully compatible with HDMI 1.3. CEC Signals will not be switched
through.
The switcher is compatible with the HDMI 1.3, HDCP 1.1 and DVI 1.0
standard and supports all HD and PC resolutions from 480i to 1080p and
VGA to UXGA.
The unit is compatible with HDMI 1.1 HDCP 1.1 and DVI 1.0 Standards and
supports resolutions from 480i to 1080p for Video and PC type signals
from VGA to UXGA.
The switcher may be controlled either from front panel, RS-232 , contact
closures or
infrared remote.
The PROSWITCH has some unique features:
Pocket operation:
Each of the 8 DVI inputs has a very
powerful automatic EQ for very long cable runs at the input so the pockets
may be located up to 70m/230ft away from the switch at full 1080p or UXGA
resolution. This was tested with our own cables.
PROSWITCH-8 has real DVI-I inputs so you may as well connect VGA inputs. For
ease of usage the PROSWITHC-8 has an automatic detection if VGA or DVI is
in use and can signalize this information at an ouptut.
Tpyical control systems can process this information and switch the display
between VGA and DVI input accordingly.
We do not recommend using integrated DVI-I cables because of usual bad
quality but using the
DVI-BREAKOUT adaptors we are offering and
run the VGA and DVI cable seperately.
EDID Management:
Any professional switcher cannot do
without EDID management for DVI and VGA inputs. Most modern PC and
Laptops even require proper EDID information from the display for VGA
operation. Naturally a switcher connects only one display to a possible of 8
inputs at the time, so the other unconnected inputs need to provide valid
EDID otherwise the PC sources would loose picture while switching or even
worse do not ouptut a picture at all.

In fact the PROSWITHC-8 has virtually 8 DVIFIX built in.
For faster and easier setup of the unit, it is possible to have the EDID of
input 1 to be copied to all other inputs. It would be still possible to have
individual EDID settings for each input.
Integrated Audio switching:
To make your life easier we have 8
assignable stereo audio inputs with volume control. In smaller installs the
PROSWITCH is all you need to drive your amp directly from the switcher.
Digital audio switching:
If it happens that you want to use the PROSWITCH-8 in a home theater
installation or a system where a 5.1 sound system is installed you can use
any of the 4 coax SPDIF inputs and assign them to any of the 8 HDMI/DVI
inputs.
The unit cannot embedd or deembedd audio to the HDMI signals, if that is
needed we offer external cost effective units like the
HDMIREPDEC.
Operation:
Focussed on the most demanding applications we are offering front panel
control, inputs selections using 8 contact closures, RS-232 control and
Infrared remote. The front push buttons leave space for labelling making the
unit even usuable for live acts.
The IR codes may be learned with all universal remote controls that are on
the market
